Porsche 924 Production Figures

Overview of 924 Porsche Cars
In 1975 Porsche reversed tradition and produced a water cooled front engine road car - the 924. Although the 924 was originally a VW project, Porsche bought its own design back and the car was produced by Audi with a VW 2 liter four cylinder engine producing 125 bhp. The lack of Porsche like acceleration attached real criticism to the 924. In 1978 Porsche introduced the Turbo. With a KKK Turbocharger, 170 bhp was produced raising top speed to 140 mph and 0 to 60 mph acceleration to 7.1 sec. In 1986 the engine was enlarged to 2.5 liters and called the 924S. Production ceased in 1988.
