Overview of 968 Porsche Cars |
After a ten year production life the 944 was replaced in 1991 by the 968. In effect a rebodied 944 and similar 3-Litre engine with modified inlet manifold and a variable valve timing mechanism named Variocam producing 240bhp. A new six speed gear box and four speed Tiptronic option. Available in� a coupe and Cabriolet forms 1993 saw the introduction of the 968CS Club Sport, a lightened model with lowered suspension and bigger brakes. This car was judged best handling car of 1993 by Autocar and Motor Magazine. The same year saw the introduction of the 968 Turbo S, developing 305bhp and 175mph top speed. But with poor sales and to make way for the new Boxster the 968 ceased production in 1995
